Carmina Burana / Tubular Bells

On Halloween weekend, we join TorQ Percussion Quartet, the Bergmann Duo, and the Toronto Children’s Chorus to bring you a choral experience like no other: Carmina Burana transports you to a rollicking medieval time, while Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells provides a trance-like journey into the cult classic soundtrack of The Exorcist. Dress up to make it an immersive spooky experience and you might take home the prize for best costume.

Oundjian Conducts The Planets

Fasten your seatbelts and blast off to the stars with Holst’s sonic, celestial showpiece, which vividly portrays each planet’s astrological persona, from menacing Mars to jolly Jupiter and beyond. TSO Principal Clarinet Eric Abramovitz and Bass Clarinet Miles Jaques take centre stage for Mendelssohn’s sunny Konzertstück No. 2. Conductor Emeritus Peter Oundjian returns to lead these performances, which begin with Rossini’s delightful Overture to La gazza ladra and feature Coleridge-Taylor’s Ballade in A Minor.

Merry Merry Music

To celebrate our annual Sing Loo! fundraiser, we’re performing a FREE concert with the Toronto Eaton Centre’s “Merry Merry Music” event. Join us on floor 1 near the MAC at 5:00 p.m. for a festive show featuring over 300 choristers!

A Chorus Christmas: Holiday Reflections

Kindle the joys of the holiday season with the angelic voices of the Toronto Children’s Chorus in our annual celebratory concert at Roy Thomson Hall! More than 300 choristers, including the TCC’s Alumni Choir and the Toronto Youth Choir, will perform some of our holiday hits, celebrating 45 years of the Toronto Children’s Chorus and over 30 years at Roy Thomson Hall. Under the baton of new Artistic Director, Zimfira Poloz, the Chorus will be commemorating this milestone with previous Artistic Director, Elise Bradley, MNZM, conducting carols in the lobby prior to the start of the performance. We will be joined on stage by some of our friends from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Lord of the Rings in Concert

Experience Howard Shore’s Academy Award®-winning score performed live to the epic motion picture in HD. The Toronto Children’s Chorus’ Main Choir and Toronto Youth Choir will join the FILMharmonique Orchestra and Amadeus Choir onstage to transport you to the heart of Middle Earth in the quest of the Fellowship of the Ring.

Senior Choir Festival

TCC’s Chamber Choir will join 10 other GTA based choirs at the Senior Treble Festival, hosted by the Young Voices Toronto, with guest clinician Kellie Walsh. The day’s activities will end with an evening concert presented by all participating choirs.

Nagamo Project Concert

The Toronto Youth Choir will join musica intima & Andrew Balfour for an evening of compositions by Balfour himself, exploring universal ideas of governance, diplomacy, and culture, as well as the challenges Indigenous peoples face today. Revolving around Elizabethan choral music by Byrd, Tallis, and Gibbons, NAGAMO also features the unique musical perspective of Balfour’s reimagining of these motets into Cree and Ojibway.

Reflections of Light

Junior Choir Festival

Cantare and Chorealis will join 10 other GTA choirs in the Junior Treble Festival, hosted by Mississauga Children’s Choir. Following a day of workshops under the direction of Dr. Jamie Hillman, participating choirs will present a joint concert.

The Main Choir and Toronto Youth Choir join together to close our 45th season and celebrate our new Artistic Director Zimfira Poloz’s first season!

TOUR
July 2023
Washington D.C. & New York City
The Chamber Choir will embark on a tour of Washington DC & New York City in July 2023. They will join both local and international children’s choirs at the Voices Together Symposium at the University of Maryland. Following this, the Toronto Youth Choir will join the Chamber Choir for a special performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
