Auditions
The Toronto Children’s Chorus is now scheduling auditions for the 2010-2011 concert season.
Children must be entering Grade 1 (or higher) in September of the year they are auditioning to be eligible to audition.
2010 Audition Dates
Please note spring audition dates are now complete. Our next available audition date is:
Saturday, September 11– 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Please be sure to submit your audition application early as space fills up quickly.
Audition Requirements and What to Bring
Please arrive 20 minutes before your child’s audition appointment time. You will be asked to complete a Toronto Children’s Chorus application form. This will include business and emergency contact addresses and phone numbers. Please have this information with you.
- Applicants will be asked to sing a song of his/her choice. Please bring a song to sing, or be prepared to sing Happy Birthday or O Canada.
- Applicants will be asked to write a short theory test, to assess his/her level of knowledge, if applicable.
We also ask that you bring:
- A $15 non-refundable audition fee (cash or cheque payable to the Toronto Children’s Chorus)
- Three Passport size school photos, with your child’s name printed on the back of each, for your child’s file (helping us to identify and remember your child)
- Optional: An instrument to play (a piano is provided in the audition room)
- Optional: A reference letter from your child’s teacher or principal.
Callbacks
Sometimes children are asked to return for a second audition in a group setting. You will have at least a week’s notice if this is the case for your child.
Results
Results are mailed in mid-June. Results are not available before mid-June because our current choristers re-audition before final decisions as to the make-up of each choir are made.
