Hear the Chorus as Guest Artists
Opening Night of the TSO: with guests Christopher Plummer & the Toronto Children’s Chorus
Thursday & Saturday, September 22 & 24, 2011 – 7:30 p.m.
The Toronto Children’s Chorus is honoured to perform in the Opening Night concert of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s 2011-2012 season marking their 90th anniversary. The Chorus will perform the world première of Larysa Kuzmenko’s Behold the Night for Children’s Chorus and Orchestra with text from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Legendary actor Christopher Plummer plays the role of Shakespeare’s Henry V in the Palmer arrangement of Walton’s music. The Shakespearean theme continues with Tchaikovsky’s riveting Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture.

Mahler Symphony of a Thousand with Toronto Symphony Orchestra
Wednesday & Thursday, June 13 & 14, 2012 – 8:00 p.m.
The Toronto Children’s Chorus is pleased to perform with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra for the second time this season! Mahler’s Eighth Symphony is dubbed Symphony of a Thousand because it engaged over 1,000 performers at its first performance. This awe-inspiring spectacle calls for a huge orchestra, organ, double choir, children’s choir, and eight vocal soloists. Opening with a stirring medieval hymn setting, it concludes with a virtual concert opera setting of Goethe’s Faust. A don’t-miss occasion!

“Loo!” sings the conductor and all the choristers join in beautiful unison until their attention is captured.
