The Toronto Children’s Chorus sees musical excellence in every child who loves to sing. The choirs are not so much a collection of talented voices, but more a highly crafted orchestra where each voice is developed with care and expertise. The Toronto Children’s Chorus excels in the ability to draw music out of children and transform them into acclaimed choristers. It is this system that sets the Toronto Children’s Chorus apart from other children’s choirs and is modeled the world over.

The key component to the process is desire – a desire to sing and to strive for excellence. It is this same desire that fuels the benefits of membership in the chorus: discipline, leadership and a sense of community.

The Language of Music

The program is a comprehensive and holistic approach to music education. Children must be taught the concepts of music in order to master the language of music. It’s the same for a spoken language – children learn to speak by imitating their parents but it isn’t until they begin learning the rules of the alphabet, grammar, phonetics and writing that they can truly understand and master it. For this reason, the Toronto Children’s Chorus instructs children not only in vocal production but the language of music so that they understand its construction and can better develop an appreciation for what they are singing.
